ABOUT
PROJECT
.

Project Prakrit is a grassroot Entrepreneurial initiative by Enactus SRM to create women entrepreneurs with the motto of saving the environment. It mainly focuses on the manufacturing of reusable paper bags which are used as an alternative to single use plastic bags.

This project in collaboration with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan is dealing with a community based in village of Anjur, Chengalpattu, Tamil Nadu. Our project actively encourages women of this community to be business oriented.

We employed a new working model for Project Prakrit, which begins with Enactus members themselves learning techniques that require success in the enterprise and teaching a few keen entrepreneurs in the target community. Upon application of those techniques, the entrepreneurs improve their methods and processes and go on to train new business aspirants. Prakrit is solely based on a B2B sales model that involves one business selling products or services to other businesses. The production capacity is around 220 bags a day.

Multiple training workshops to teach paper bag folding, keeping inventory, concept of assembly lines and during the pandemic workshop on making masks had been conducted at Anjur.
